12 Year old boy dies after 5 days, being beaten badly by teacher, during treatment at a hospital on Sunday. Following the death, his parents claimed that their son died of depression.
Mahaveernagar Police registered a case and have initiated a probe into the matter.
The child, identified as Mohan, was studying in Class Vat Jyotiba Senior Secondary School in Rangbadi area. Mohan’s parents, however, alleged that he went into depression and developed fever after being thrashed by a schoolteacher Ramniwas Nagar, for not completing his homework.

When his condition didn’t improve, Mohan’s parents admitted him in New Medical College hospital on Sunday, where he died during treatment.

The school director, R B Suman, refuted the allegations and said that ‘light’ scolding and beating was necessary to maintain discipline among students. Suman claimed that the parents were levelling such allegations under the influence of some ‘anti-school group’.

They are wrongly holding the teacher responsible for the boy’s death, which happened due to fever, Suman argued.
Probe underway, autopsy report awaited: Police

Suman said that the accused teacher has been associated with the school since July 2017 and no such reports against his conduct have been received so far.

“Parents of the deceased boy have written a complaint to us in the matter, according to which the boy was admitted to the hospital on Sunday with fever, where he died during treatment,”

said Tarachand, the circle in-charge of Mahaveernagar police station. They also alleged that their son was beaten by the schoolteacher for not completing homework, Tarachand added.
Mohan’s body was handed over to his family after the autopsy. Cops said investigation is underway and the autopsy report is awaited.
