Coolie No. 1, starring Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan, is a remake of the 1995 film made by David Dhawan. It is the first time that Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan will be seen together in a film. The two have often been spotted rehearsing for the dances. They also shot a sequence of the film in Thailand. Currently, the Mumbai part of the film’s shooting is taking place. However, the film sets met the unfortunate incident of a fire breaking out. Luckily, no casualties were reported. Producer Jackky Bhagnani took Twitter to thank the firefighters, Mumbai police, and BMC Police who immediately put out the fire resulting in no casualties. However, Jackky Bhagnnani has still not mentioned the amount of material loss and injured persons. There is also no indication of when the film shootings are resuming.

Coolie No. 1 has also been in the news for banning plastics on its sets and only using steel water bottles to stand in solidarity with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aim of freeing India from plastic. Varun Dhawan posted a photo of the film crew holding their water bottle.
Being a plastic-free nation is the need of the hour and great intiative taken by our prime minister and we can all do this by making small changes. The sets of #CoolieNo1 will now only use steel bottles. @PMOIndia pic.twitter.com/T5PWc4peRX

Sara Ali Khan is playing the main female lead in this film opposite Varun Dhawan. Besides Coolie No. 1, she will also be seen in Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming film which is a sequel of ‘Love Aaj Kal.’ Interestingly, it was Sara Ali Khan’s father Saif Ali Khan who had worked in the original film. Sara Ali Khan was last seen in Simmba. Varun Dhawan has Street Dancer 3D in the pipeline where he will be seen with Sharddha Kapoor and Nora Fatehi. Varun Dhawan was last seen in Kalank with Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Sonakshi Sinha.
