The success of Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh shows that a large majority of the Hindi film audience still thoroughly enjoys violent dramatic love stories on the silver screen. To cater to this audience, another intense love story, with loads of action, will hit the theatres in a few months. Titled Marjaavan, this upcoming film stars Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh, Tara Sutaria and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles. Sidharth Malhotra has previously done a similar film Ek Villain in 2014, which has been the biggest success of his career so far, and has also worked in thrillers like Aiyaary and Ittefaq, experimenting with different roles.

Produced by Nikkhil Advani and Bhushan Kumar, Marjaavan has been directed by Milap Zaveri, who also directed the very intense Satyameva Jayate. The film’s tagline is Ishq Mein Marenge Bhi, Maarenge Bhi (We will die for love and also kill for it). Its first poster, which uses a combination of red and black colours, has also created expectations of more love and blood on screen. While sharing the poster online, Siddharth had written that the film would be a “thrilling game of love and death.”

The film’s shooting was wrapped up in March and release is expected in October 2019. This will be the second time Siddharth will be sharing the screen with Riteish Deshmukh, who also appeared in Ek Villain, so audience expectations are high from this reunion. Meanwhile, Siddharth will also be seen in a comic role in Jabariya Jodi, opposite Parineeti Chopra, and is also working on Vikram Batra biopic, Shershah, with Kiara Advani, proving that he can work in various kinds of roles and genres. It is expected that these new movies will put Siddharth’s Bollywood career back on track, as his last few films have failed to impress audiences.
